A news report I'd like to read
$10,000 fine for both parents of gun-toting child
Hawaii's legislators are considering a $10,000 fine for both parents of any child found with a parent's gun.
- "parents" meaning the gun owner(s) with whom the child lives. If child lives with both parents then both are fined.
- "child" meaning, anyone living in their parents home who is under the legal age to buy a gun. In Hawaii the age is 21.
- "found" meaning, carrying/shooting. No excuses, no waivers, no exceptions.
The premise is that parents would truly get that it's criminal to allow a child to have access, even accidentally, to weapons.
After reading this post no gun-owning parent can say that no one ever told them.
