Title: HPR Donor Option
Post by: Kerry on March 01, 2014, 02:40:18 AM
I'd like to have HPR offer donors the following choice:

"Would you like us to broadcast your name or use the time for broadcasting program material?"

For certain it's a "leading" question, it presumes that a donor, if given the choice, would serve the community rather than their ego.

Something about hearing donor names throughout each day, day-after-day, doesn't feel good; for me it triggers thoughts about the motivation behind the donation—perhaps to look good, to have friends hear how generous you are. The perfunctory obligatory acknowledgment seems to taint the donation—it conflicts with the purpose of a donation which is to support content the listening community enjoys.

I think many donors would opt to use the time it takes for the acknowledgment blurb to expand upon their donation, one of program content—a gift to all listeners.
