Caution about Yamaha generators
« on: March 25, 2015, 05:58:33 AM »
This tip is for Big Island (island of Hawaii) residents. A mainland dealer referred me to David at WorldWideInd.com on Oahu from whom I bought a Yamaha EF 2800i Tri-fuel generator. Neither the referrer nor David mentioned upfront that the stated three-year warranty does not include labor unless the repairs are done by a Yamaha distributor. David didn't mention this until after I had paid my deposit; he later told me that he knew that Hilo doesn't have a Yamaha dealer/repair shop. I felt deceived.

David later told me that in the event it needs repairs I could take it to any generator repair shop here in Hilo and to let him know the part numbers required and that he would mail me the parts, but, that I'll have to pay for the labor. He said that he didn't know any shop in Hilo that does Yamaha repairs).

Because of the above I recommend Honda generators for big isle residents. —Kerry
